A Cautionary Tale - When Ordering Online, Select Your FFL Carefully

So moral of the story is... when ordering online, especially from Classic Firearms, be sure to carefully select and verify your FFL shipper, or you'll have to pay a $15 fee for Janet to do a simple keystroke.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have seen far worse fees for what amounts to a few keystrokes. I received something the other day that wanted me to pay $35 for a change to my account in what amounted to a few keystrokes.

Ah... ya mean Bartow Sheriff phone call incident. Hoss has me confused crossing dialogues from threads. :)
Sheriff?? I believe it was were NWS answered the phone at Bartow knife and gun and gave incorrect information about the status of a customers gun.

$35 customer service fee? That is ridiculous! It's like when I want to pay a bill over the internet, often companies will charge a "convenience charge". WTH? It's automated and no one has to manually touch it! They should give me a discount for saving them money!

I even sent a follow up email to Janet and Classic Firearms stating that I have been in the technology sector for 15 years and have done a lot of systems consulting, requirements gathering, functional specs, design and development and that I would offer my services pro bono to either create a customer self service portal add on to modify the order as long as it was not in a "locked" status (meaning in the process of being shipped, paper work completed, etc.) or to create a simple and headache free method for Janet to be able to change it quickly, easily and effortlessly. She politely declined my services.

Oh... now I'm really confused. :)

A couple weekends ago I had the Bartow Sheriff call me and not leave a message...when I called back, the dispatcher had no idea who it could've been. And I don't have a local number, so it's not like it would've been a mis-dialed number.

Then I had an incident with Bartow Knife and Gun where I went there to drop a knife off and they were closed, although their (out of date) website said they should have been opened. So I had to make a second trip.

Hoss needs to reference his references. :)

A Cautionary Tale - When Ordering Online, Select Your FFL Carefully

I've worked in the technology sector for 15 years. If you are a retailer that offers online shopping, locating an order and modifying something in the system is or should be extremely quick and easy. In fact, it should be a simple stroke of a key or perhaps self service that the customer can do.

Me, too. One would think that it should not be that much of a pain. They apparently have the same antiquated computer system as the IRS that routinely uses emails due to hard drive crashes.
