A Cautionary Tale - When Ordering Online, Select Your FFL Carefully
So I ordered a VEPR-12 from ClassicFirearms a couple weeks ago and I accidentally selected Cherokee Trading Company instead of Cherokee Gun and Pawn. Totally my mistake and I own that. However when I asked Classic Firearms to change my FFL destination, Janet at Classic Firearms said she could but for a $15 fee because it was "a lot of work to change it" <insert eye roll>.
I've worked in the technology sector for 15 years. If you are a retailer that offers online shopping, locating an order and modifying something in the system is or should be extremely quick and easy. In fact, it should be a simple stroke of a key or perhaps self service that the customer can do.
So I spoke to Cherokee Trading Company and asked if they charge for an FFL transfer and explained my mistake, and Eric, the guy who answered was rude and condescending to me saying, "I ain't gonna do it for free!" He then proceeded to ask me what kind of gun and how much I paid for it suggesting he could sell me one, as if I was won over by his customer service. I politely said, "no thanks" as Dave and the team at "Cherokee Gun and Pawn is my preferred FFL and dealer and if they would've had this very gun in stock I would purchase it from them, even if it was slightly more expensive".
So moral of the story is... when ordering online, especially from Classic Firearms, be sure to carefully select and verify your FFL shipper, or you'll have to pay a $15 fee for Janet to do a simple keystroke.
Also, I don't know if anyone has had any business with Cherokee Trading Company on Hickory Flats Rd., but I'd like to know if this is the typical customer service most receive or if this was just a bad day.
