I might be in the minority on this but I would wait a few more years before I looked at a new Tacoma. Same goes for the new Tundra. The tacoma now comes with a v4 turbo instead of a 6 cylinder, so I don't know if those are any good?
Personally, I would be more inclined to fix it then. You know the history of the vehicle and how it has been maintained.
You are right about that. I really liked the canyon, Colorado. Body style. Almost bought it instead. Probably the only reason I didn’t is because it took GM two years to acknowledge that drive through car washes were creasing the top of the truck. Now on the assembly line they are putting a reinforced bar in the roof. I remember when Tacomas were having rusted out frames showing up. Toyota at least replaced the frames on trucks up to ten years old. Right now the Tundra is having massive recalls and the older generation is bring unreal prices on the used market regardless of milesThe tacoma now comes with a v4 turbo instead of a 6 cylinder, so I don't know if those are any good?
my dad has over 700k on a '96 ford explorer v8.I have had 3 v8 old school chevy 5.7's and got 300k out of all of them on the same motor and transmission before selling them. Had to switch over to Toyota Tundra's when they starting cutting to many corners on the chevy's.
Please raise your hand or start a poll if your have gotten 300k on a Ford Truck. I would like to look for one like you had.
I got a 2014 ford it’s 4wd bought used had 29000 plus now got 160,000 plus. No trouble with turbo charger yet. I have had replace fuel pump trouble with 4wd drive front bearings and Gear ⚙️ inside casing dam gear was plastic composite. Not cheap. I have read on these ford 6 cylinder that over time turbo can start leaking oil. I like the engine and turbo charger faster u driver better the fuel mileage. All these newer model trucks aren’t worth the price they ask. ( what going do its what build) overrated over priced.I currently own a 2014 FX2 V6 ecoboost with roughly 150k miles on it. My change oil light came on earlier than expected so I went to have it changed. It appears I have a BAD leak but it is minimally dripping.
I had a diagnostic ran, and it is the turbo chargers, seals, and other hardware that is needed. I have a quote of roughly 7K. YUP, 7K. Labor costs are a bitch. My truck's value is about 15K. Should I drop the cash and fix it or should I trade it in?
I have the money do to either. And if I do, which full-size pickups do you guys recommend?
My only real requirements are having an electric sliding back window and a backup camera.
Thanks
