A peek at your CCW

Exactly what does CCW stand for anyhow?

1. Concealed Carry Weapon?
2. Carrying Concealed Weapon?
3. Something I have not thought of?

How would these words fit into the question asked? "I would like a peek at your Concealed Carry Weapon"?

Certified Carry Weapon

I've read all the gun laws in Georgia,
been talking about them for 30 years,
and wrote a book about them in 2014!
(Available on Amazon.com).
If there was ever such a requirement, it must've been so long ago I forgot that ever existed. There certainly isn't a requirement to ask these questions now!

.

"the private sale of a handgun in Georgia is only legal when both parties reside in this state
under federal law, an unlicensed (non-dealer) may only “transfer” a firearm to another unlicensed person in the same state. This means that if a person is a resident of Georgia, federal law prohibits the person from directly (not through a dealer) selling or transferring the firearm to a resident of another state.

Certified Carry Weapon

In 61 years I have never heard of this. Does it come from a time or place where a license/permit was issued to a person for a specific weapon only?

Multiple licenses/permits were required if you had multiple weapons you wanted to carry?

Very interesting, thanks.

I've still never understood the reasoning for calling a license/permit a CCW.......it does not fit.

Is it possible we could just get people to stop saying "CCW"? There is no such thing in the State of Georgia.

We have a Georgia Weapons Carry License. That's it. Nothing else.

I understand that a lot of folks use the word "CCW", because that is what they are used to, or what they heard somebody else say. We all know what they mean.

But when your teaching a class or informing new residents to Georgia about our laws, it is nice to use the correct terminology. There are lots of new firearms owners here, let's see if we can get them to use the correct terminology.

As a friend of mine always says..."Words have meanings".....Use the correct words.
