if you hunt south of GA20 in forsyth county, you can only use a shotgun. What's a good, cheap shotgun to hunt deer? I think I need a slug gun? Saw a stoeger 350 at academy for $299. I think it's more for birds. I don't know. any advice is appreciated. thanks

In Ohio I use my trusty Rem 870 Express with cantilever scope mount slug barrel with Leupold 2.5-7X33 scope. It will shoot Hornady SST slugs into a 2.5" group at 100 yds off a rest. I have had very good luck with it, for around $575 it has served me well. Whichever route you chose I would go with a rifled barrel and saboted slug IMHO.

+1 on the 870. I killed a bunch of deer in Ohio with one. No scope or anything, just a slug barrel. You can find those cheap and they are almost bulletproof. Of course, the OH deer were during a drive, so it was basically bird hunting. The 870 slayed them, after I finally learned to lead them about 6 feet when they are running.
