I am new to the AK platform and I am becoming more and more into them the more I see the packages that you guys post on here especially the Dracos. I have always and probably will always be an AR man, but I am interested in getting an AK. The only problem is that I don't know what to look for when buying one. There seems to be soooooo many variations, so I need some advice. Can someone tell me what the differences are, and what are the levels of quality like RIA, Springfield, Wilson Combat from a 1911 perspective. I know that milled receivers are better than the stamped metal, but that is about it. What brands are better than others?

That SAR1 on the boards here in rifles and shotguns...is IMHO a fine gun. That being said, I have owned almost every type of AK available to consumers in the US, and now I have 2 WASRs. I'm just as happy with them as I ever was....go figure.

Thats funny. I do love my SAR1. Im kicking myself for not buying a bunch when they were 375.

I have a yugo myself. They are a little on the heavy side, but the small additions to the Ak platform that the country added make it more user friendly. The rifles are also built on heavier receivers which is a bonus to accuracy. I like the under folder stock because it makes it easier to store/ transport.
