Another AR Pistol Question Regarding OAL

From my understanding:
Rifle has a stock, barrel over 16" and OAL over 26"
SBR has a barrel less than 16" and a stock or brace
Pistol has no stock or brace, a barrel under 16" and OAL less than 26"

So....what do you call a firearm that has a 12.5" barrel, no stock or brace and OAL over 26"????

Like previous memeber said, they don’t know…so you don’t know. It’s an SBR in their eyes. But
wait till next month. It will be something different. Until then. Just shoot the damn thing.

A letter from the ATF in 2011 indicates that you can add a vertical grip to a "firearm" with a barrel under 16" if the OAL is over 26" and not be creating an AOW. This was back when ar pistols had pistol buffer tubes. Without a vertical grip or stock/brace it should be completely legal and still be an ar pistol. Who knows if the regulations have been changed since 2011 though.
