AR 15 light options for under $100???

You might try a budget model for casual or possibly even for more serious defensive use.
However anything electronic can & will fail when you need it most.

I tend to spend a little more for a tool that might be called into use for defense of mine or my families lives.
To me, that's not an application where I want the lowest price just the best performance at a reasonable price

The key, as some others have mentioned is to actually test out your system to confirm reliability.

Regardless of which direction you decide if the gun/ light combination is intended for serious use I would encourage you to also have a handheld backup light as a supplement & to train transitioning to it also.

Surefire G2X 320 Lumen Tactical Flashlight $66.99 http://www.lapolicegear.com/sf-g2x-c-320-tac.html

Surefire 6PX 320 Lumen Black Tactical Flashlight $80.99 http://www.lapolicegear.com/sf-6px-c-bk-320-tac.html

Surefire P2X Fury 500 Lumen Tactical Single Output LED Flashlight $108.50 http://www.lapolicegear.com/sf-p2x-a-bk-tactical.html

Then just find a mount.

Streamlight TLR-1s 160 Lumen Weapon Light - STROBE $99.99 http://www.lapolicegear.com/streamlight-tlr1s-weaponlight.html

One of the above is what I use combined w/ a Viking Tactics light mount that typically runs about $25.
Several people that I know & train w/ use the same or similar setup and are satisfied with it.

Best recommendation yet. Get one of the new G2X models and a VTAC mount.
I would agree with that too.

Takes like a month to ship, but I have it on all my guns.

If you clip to shotgun, use this mount:

Cant remember which mount I have for my AK and AR...

I've shot hundreds of rounds on the Shotgun (12 gauge Mossberg 500A) with it on, and thousands of rounds of 5.56x45, 5.45x39, and 7.62x39 on it, and no problem whatsoever. The output is great if you use Ultrafire 14500 batteries, but you can use AA batteries and it's still bright.

Mine came with three mode: Full on, 1/2 brightness, and Strobe.

I have it ready for strobe mode on the HD shotgun. It's SUPER bright and fills the whole room, even bigger room.

Ohh yeah, I used blue loc-tite on all my bun mounts. Red loc-tite on all the rails.

Remember that you want a single output light on a rifle. When you click on the tailcap end, you want it to come on to the full power setting. You don't want to have to click through other settings to get to full power. You also want it to have a momentary on feature if possible.
