Form 1. Fill out and mail to the address on it, with a $200 check or money order (and finger print cards and photos if not doing a trust). Wait 6-8 months. Get approval. Add stock.

Is this required if using a trust?
I do not recall doing one of these on my Form 3 and I am about to send a Form 1 next week. Just needing to be clear.
If you do a form one, I think you also have to get the lower engraved with the builder's info. Looked into this a while ago. It was enough trouble to make me want a factory built form 3 complete rifle... cost be damned.
Just have a Local trophy shop engrave it, but you can't leave it with them.
You can have the lower engraved prior to approval, thus leaving with the engraver is ok.
There is some questions about the COC, whether with a trust or individual. We send it in with all our Forms as a precaution.

Registering a SBR isn't that much trouble. I've filled out the paper work twice, then talked myself out of it when I think about not being able to travel out of state with it.
