AR10

I do love me some gun snobs.

I bought this set:

$189.99
http://palmettostatearmory.com/inde...m-ptac10-308-complete-classic-lower-receiver/

$439.99
http://palmettostatearmory.com/inde...h-308-upper-with-bcg-and-charging-handle.html

Total cost was $600 to me including S&H and FFL fee on the lower. Sum bitch is so tight that I got concerned the BCG was too big for the chamber. Added a scope on a cantilevered mount my favorite pistol grip and a few other customizing accessories and for right at $800 I have a serious shooter. Functions perfectly and look scary as hell doing it.

Never going to understand the people who pay above top dollar just for bragging rights. Especially when all they have to brag about is spending more money.

If people want to brag about having the "best" then I say let them. I am not going to war, at least I hope not. I just want to get value for my dollar. I have no need for the "best". All of my AR's function 100% and they are not the "best" brands. But I guess someone has to buy the "best" or they wouldn't make em. I also never understood "free float barrel" on any AR? To get a true free float would it not be a single shot?

If the barrel is properly attached to the upper receiver and the sights are mounted properly to the receiver then you would have to be putting a hell of a lot of torque differential between the grips to make a difference in point of impact. Really though, if you want sniper range/accuracy, why buy an AR to begin with?

From my basic knowlege the reason a free float barrel is good for accuracy is when the gun is shot the barrel flexes and then returns to normal. If the barrel is free float it allows the barrel to come back to rest at the same position so when it is shot again it will be from the same position.

Seems like overkill on short range weapons but understandable when reaching out longer.
