wow, taking a gun out of another persons holster is the dumbest thing I have heard in a while, and I hear LOTS of stupid things.
my opinion:
1. You have no right to touch another mans legally carried firearm like you did. If it had been me and nothing physical came from it at the very least the police would have been called on you.
2. A polite word is safer and can go alot further than stealing someones gun.
3. Saying you know the guy just seems like your trying to make it look like you didnt do some seriously stupid ****.

You could have verbally told him about his gun, that's what I have done, or I would have not said anything and laughed at it internally.
had you gotten into an altercation with him and he had a BUG, you get into a shootout, you essentially initiated the incident by stealing his gun.
