Are Drs. Fishing for Dollars?

Here's how bad Doctor's can be fishing for something, my wife and I after a camping trip both felt like we had a bladder infection that wouldn't go away so I went to my doctor and she went to her's so now to the tests my doctor ran tests to find I was dehydrated total for the tests $149 my wife's dr ran tests and it was $1950 same medical network just a different doctor, we started using urgent care ever since.
About 3 years ago I had a 4.5" cutoff wheel come apart and cut my hand pretty bad 4 stitches on the inside and 8 on the outside it happened on a Sunday I went to urgent care and they fixed it up $750 and made the statement if I had gone to the hospital it would have easily been 10 times if not more than the cost, again the same network.
That's that non profit hospital........

If you are worried about doctors recommending unnecessary procedures just to make extra money, you can always try a concierge doctor or practice for a primary care doctor.

Most do not take insurance, cost is relatively inexpensive. They have no incentive to recommend unnecessary procedures. You usually pay them a monthly fee, can pretty much go whenever you want, call them on the phone to deal with little things and they can become your advocate when seeing specialists etc that do play the run up the insurance bill game.

Their only motivation is to assist you with your health, you usually see them more often so you can catch things quicker etc.

If you have a health savings account, you can pay them out of that. When they recommend a medicine or procedure it is not because they are getting any money for it, or they are padding an instance payout.

I do everything pretty well right. I'm just a big guy. I was a skinny runt little kid. I could do a little more working out. I eat just enough to keep from feeling like I'm starving. Hard to balance it all taking care of several people and make a living all at the same time
Yeah know the feeling I eat to fast eater thanks to Army. Have sweet tooth to. Just remember this chunky boys like us if no grub around we survive longs we got water. Kinda like bear living off winter fat.

When I retired I put on 40lbs. Figured that's fine. It might help me survive Covid better. I've lost a little, but stopped for now. As long as my A1C keeps reducing, I should be fine. When they took me off the T, I gained weight.
The doc kept fussing. I told them you don't bench what I bench and weigh nothin. They couldn't argue with that
