Becoming an M&P fan??

You're experience with Kimbers is pretty similar to mine, except I had two Pro Carry's and a $1500 Super Carry Pro HD. I kicked myself on that last one for buying it over a Dan Wesson Cbob, but I made up for my mistake by getting rid of it and getting a Dan Wesson Guardian. My Dan Wesson has been completely 100% reliable and I have no intention of ever selling it. A better shooter than myself also proved to me that it was capable of putting the entire magazine in one ragged hole.
My CBOB is the same way. I swear it looks like I shot 8 times and missed the whole target 7 times sometimes lol. I've always preferred the balance of commander sized 1911s over the full size and won't even consider an officer model...Same with Glocks. I like the size/balance of a G23 more than the full size and absolutely hate subcompacts. Another little secret on the Dan Wessons...SS frame-not aluminum. It's not that much heavier but the slightly added weight absorbs a LOT of recoil. Couple that with the bob in the back fitting neatly and comfortable in your "cup" hand...follow up shots just stay lined up...almost too easy.

I did learn that aluminum framed 1911's tend to have more problems because the aluminum frame expands at a different temp than the steel slide causing the slide not to cycle correctly. I'm guessing that's why I never had an issue with my all steel Citadel but I did with both of the Kimbers.

My Guardian is aluminum frame, but it's still the best 1911 I've shot. Granted I've never shot a Wilson, Nighthawk, or Ed Brown. I'd own another Dan Wesson without any hesitation.

I'm sure it can be done reliably (alum. frame 1911's) but the experiences I had were when the gun got hot from shooting, the slide would kind of "bind" but when it cooled down the slide would cycle much smoother. POS Kimbers I guess.

I had bad experiences with aluminum and steel frame Kimbers and they didn't need to be hot. POS's wouldn't function right from the first magazine. Brand of magazine made no difference. I tried Wilson's, McCormick's, and Kimber's Tac Pro mags.

then the PPQ enters and the room goes silent. a voice in the back say "we dont serve your kind here." Confused the PPQ asks" to whom are you speaking?"
"YOU, and your damn fine ergos and trigger out of the box"

PPQ, laughs and orders a round for all the glocks that aspire to be the PPQ.
