Best Handgun for a rank novice?

Not one of my personal criteria for a handgun. I haven’t carried a handgun with that feature since since I was issued my last DA/SA P229 years ago. Nowadays I carry striker-fired or a Staccato.

When my agency switched from .357SIG to 9mm, I got rid of all my .357SIG handguns and ammo. I even had a second upper for my Colt 9mm SMG in .357SIG, and I sold that, as well.

I’ve owned a Staccato P, and my current Staccato is a C2 9mm.

Not a true DAO, as the action of the slide has to do with partially setting the hammer.
