best "nightstand gun" caliber

Unfortunately I once had to use a .40 indoors (long story) and I didn't even hear it go off. I knew after the whole threat was neutralized that it had happened, but not during. But, yeah, I see your point.

How long did your ears ring?

There is no BEST nightstand gun caliber. As someone else pointed out the best caliber is the caliber of the gun YOU have on your nightstand.

Personally I have a 357 magnum handy a shotgun not far off and a 9mm close. Sometimes the 9mm swaps places with the 357.

I vote for 12 gauge... Nice compact 12 gauge...

I got a Smith 500. Nothing says "get the F*@& out of my house" at 3 in the morning like a 325 grain hollow point to the chest. I also have my g27 for backup(like you need it after the 500)

If they are anywhere near the door, I do believe that round would actually escort them out, Then down the steps and into the yard. All before the ground was touched.

At the moment I have a PX4 with enough rounds through it without fail that I am confident it has my back. Confidence in the weapon is how i rate and stage my HD weapons.

Glock 27 for me, m&p 9c for my wife, 357 magnum as backup. If I need more than one mag on each during a home invasion, we gots a problem.
