best way to carry extra ammo while hunting

The mags are expensive but I keep an extra one in my pack for my .270 A Bolt II

For deer I only carry what is in the gun. There's only one in the chamber while up the tree. Never have run out even when taking a few deer at once.

This. A hunting trip is not a "shooting" trip.

Honestly I have accidentally taken as little as one bullet with me before. At first I kind of panicked but then I thought well that's really all I ever use anyhow. I used to carry a whole box of extra shells but then I realized it was just a waste and a l now try to cut weight where ever possible first and foremost.
