Best way to fix a headliner?

I switched to the screw in upholstery pins after I got stuck by a fallen thumb tack! That car wasn't worth enough to justify a $40 repair.

I have done others since then... It is worth the trouble to take the backer board out and not get spray glue all over the interior.
