Actually, a recent law requires all Georgia criminal courts to ASK a newly-convicted defendant, on the record, if he has a GWL.
If so, a record of that conviction will be sent to the Probate Court that issued the license so that it can be revoked.
I'm not sure how many courts are actually following this process, or how many new felons are lying about not having a GWL when in fact they do, but... the law is out there and on the books..
