Working on the handguard (sorry forgot to take a before picture but found one that shows a part of the crack)
Finish removed and crack cleaned of old glue/filler
at the last minute I decided to try something. I had a small piece i had cut of the front of the stock to have a clean seam for the extension and I ground that piece into dust with a dremmel I then mixed it in with a 2 part epoxy glue that I then applied to the crack and then covered it with more of the dust.
I have no idea of how this is going to turn out, tomorrow will potentially reveal something terrible.
