I recently acquired a pretty nice but older 12 gauge SxS from my uncle. He's had it forever and decided since he doesn't have a son it should go to me. Long story short....it hasn't been fully operational in a while. One side will fire, one won't. It's a older Stevens/savage, normally I really wouldn't worry about it, but considering the wood and metal are all in solid shape and it's a family gun I thought I'd get her some proper TLC.

Basically I'm looking for someone near Gainesville that is reasonable with their prices to take a look at it and possibly fix it.

*Caution*

If the barrel looks like this, don't shoot modern ammo in it!

This is called a "Damascus Twist," and is not safe to shoot modern ammo. They are fine with old black powder loads that they were made for, but not standard ammo of today.

I just like to point this out whenever possible. Lots of people don't know about this, and can end up blowing up a good gun.

No worries, this one is a 1960's production with a regular barrel. Thanks for the heads up though, that's good info to have.
