Look , Its simple, if its bad its bad ,if its good its good, I dont see many "good" stories on LEO, If I did see one, That was dramatically out of the norm I would post it in a heart beat. Having said that I feel strongly that these stories like my post of the 6 cops beating the guy to death need no "have" to be circulated, pressure needs to be brought to bare to crush this kind of stuff, if it isnt pushed to the forefront it will be swept under the rug.
Knowing that it will be pushed out there, and not forgotten or forgiven is and will be the greatest deterent to it becoming the norm. If an LEO does not want his name in lights, dont do anything to cause it.
I have 3 county cops as neighbors in a 10 house radius, we sat in the drive till 2am drinkin beer last night and had this same conversation, they all three agreed, Dont do it and you wont have to worry about bad press

I understand that, but todays media focuses more on the negatives than the positives. It's always the Leos that **** up, or get killed in the line of duty that make the headlines.... Flip it to where it's soldiers getting negative limelight and watch the ODT get too afraid to post anything for fear they're now bashing the defending forces. As been said before, there's assholes in every profession. The ones in the military are punished severely directly by the government, with Leos there's a big IA cover up..

I'm not asking people to stop posting media portraying cops as the bad guys, but just remember that for every asshole there's 10 Leo's out there doing good for our world and going unnoticed.

I agree that the media works to bring the bad to light , with LEO and the military. its part of the socialist /marxist plan to devide and conquer, the us against them scenario. thats the plan. its part of the big picture.

I think lowering the job requirements has some bearing... How can we the public allow officers hired with criminal history, be it shoplifting, pot smoking, car theft,battery charges, go on to be hired? How can an officer enforce laws he/she has violated? Maybe I`m just too old school....

I completely agree with you with the exception of the pot smoking. The rest of the crimes you mentioned are "actual" crimes but I really don't care if a police officer tried smoking marijuana when he was in college or whatever. I recently read an article that said even the FBI no longer disqualifies people because of smoking marijuana. If they did they would not be able to hire enough people.

I seem to remember something called punctuation which, as I recall, was once commonly used to make jumbles of words into legible sentences. Sometimes we even spelled words correctly back then.

i also think some folks just hate authority figures. always trying to show THE MAN is out to get you. most leo are good people. i'm more worried about our politicians than leo

Here is the problem I have (others here on the ODT will say I have alot of other problems). We hear this all the time " one rotten apple spoils it for the bunch". BUT a lot of times the "situation" involves more than 1. In this example it's 6. In the Ohio CCW example there are 2 of them. In the IHOP in Atlanta example it's 2. You don't see the "good" ones try to restrain or correct the bad ones. There are countless more examples. How do we fix it?
