when we had cats treed when we were a kid, we'd put out a white bed sheet with food in the middle, cat was always out in the morning. reportedly, the cat can better see the food against a white background and is more motivated to come down.
Problem solved!

Cat saved by local tree trimming service, all is quiet on the feline front, for now! Thank you everybody for there input and concern for the scared little guy....
