caution you are being recorded

If you are standing in a public area, you can film whatever you want. Just dont literally stand in their way while they are trying to work, its not just illegal, its rude.

Some cops hate being filmed, I personally dont care so long as you keep a safe distance and allow me to do my job.

If you are on federal property though there is a law against any kind of recording and picture taking, federal cops WILL cite or book you on it so..... fair warning.

I think the federal policy will be challenged and changed.

I dont, and only because they will stick with the old fear that someone could be plotting to attack a federal building and gathering evidence by Pic taking or video recording. Wether people believe that or not, it will keep the law alive.

Okay..I am jumping back in this pissing match...

As I have stated prior, I am an LEO. I get up, go to work , answer 911 calls and look for people doing unsafe, stupid things. I get payed by the hour, not commison.

I video EVERY encounter with the public. It keeps the whackjobs that complain and the bad cops out of my way. I do not hide my camera. I wear it on the front of my shirt for all to see. I Wish the public would do the same. You only hear about the 2% of cops who screw up, there are the other 98% who don't. Almost the same as her on the ODT, 98% good people, I hope the 2% don't give the rest a bad name.

As said, I get up and work every day.I leave my wife and three kids alone at night to make sure yours are safe. I work Christmas, Thanksgiving and every other holiday. I protect those who can not protect them selfs.

In 1998 I left a job paying over 42K a year to work in a jail for $7.70 an hour. Are their bad cops? Yes, and they should be jailed the worst of any one.To betray an oath is the worst disgrace a man can bring upon the Lord, himself and his family !!!!

While I am on my soap box. I am polite and say sir or mam'm every time I stop a car.I treat everyone as if I would want my family treated. If I seem "rude" or "impersonal", it may be because the last wrecked I worked the mom was DUI on prescription drugs and the two year old flew out the window and hit a telephone pole. I gave CPR but to no avail...

The last call I had, an hour ago some A@@ hole decided to kill his kids, wife and himself because of a divorce.

I don't get to "take a few days" after these things. I answer my next call.

Local Cops DO NOT have an agenda; we are normal people who swore and oath to God and the Constitution

@Mikey394. Be safe and I appreciate you.

I started this thread simply because I was ignorant. I did not know the "mic" on the front of of the duty uniform was an actual microphone and video camera. I always thought it was like a mic on a CB, for communicating with dispatch. I also wanted to reiterate that when an LEO approaches you, it is BECAUSE YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING HE or SHE DOES NOT LIKE. It isn't because he/she wants to chit chat. That is all.

Mikey394 no one has accused you of being a dirty officer. I feel bad for you feeling like you have to defend your position but once again the one aspect of this thread that you tried to rebuke you did it with your opinion and not facts.
You say "Local Cops DO NOT have an agenda; we are normal people who swore and oath to God and the Constitution" Now Mikey you are speaking for thousands upon thousands of LEO with nothing more than your faith. When an entire shift of officers predate and sign a number of tickets based on competition and wagers before their shift begins or place bets on the number of people they can arrest that shift then people's rights tend to get violated... Hell Mikey you may not realize it but you participate in the states biggest scam of all... CLICK IT OR TICKET... State instituted program for ALL police departments to compete for state grant money, cars and equipment... All based on the number of tickets a department writes during that time frame... No there is no quota.... Duhhhhhh... Thanks for hunting me down for a traffic violation so I can pay your dept. a fine and then your department is rewarded with tax payers dollars that I also paid.... What a scam. But Mikey my point is as much as you want to believe that all or most LEO's are as squeaky clean as you... Well their not.

I think I have it figured out now. It would be wrong for an officer to enforce the law by actually LOOKING for a violator. Cops should always wait until the victim is...Well a VICTIM before we try to actually protect.
All these years, I've had it wrong...

Even though you are off base with my point I will say that you are close to being correct with your sarcastic statement. To address my original point, I'm stating that there are more officers that infringe on our rights then most think or know of. Secondly when you participate in a state funded program to write more tickets than other police departments for rewards then actions are taken to fulfill that task and rights are infringed upon...

well i hope i get pulled over by you next time, but just to let ya know, i have yet to meet a cop who embodies or represents this.

while i know cops dont get commission, they do get orders. i have never needed a cops help to defend myself, and doubt that it will ever happen.

just sayin, not tryin to down-play your service, and if what you say is true well thank you for your integrity and ability to hold be level headed and responsible, but the fact is most people dont trust the police in this country. probably because of our government and the fact that getting involved with the police usually ends up with bad results (as i have found out with my friends and families expeirence)

if i ever have to talk to a cop, or be pulled in, i dont cooperate. i shut up and call a lawyer
