Were it an American weather ballon over Montana it would have made in China written on it somewhere.

So 2 things here. 1st, weather balloons routinely hit 100k ft in altitude. There are no aircraft fixed or rotary wing aircraft in our arsenal that can reach that altitude. That leaves ICBMs and anti satellite missiles like the sm2 and sm3, to shoot it down. ICBMs don't have radar guidance nor conventional warheads while standard missiles are on Navy warships. Unless we got an Arleigh Burke on the Mississippi that's not gonna work either.

2. Assuming it's a spy balloon, I'm sure NORAD has know it's where abouts and flight path long before it hit the shores of America. I'm sure they also looked over projected air currents and decided if it's gonna float over something the military wants hidden.

Bonus thought, assuming it is some kind of Chinese spy balloon, what else is in it? Maybe some radioactive cesium? Go ahead and blast that out the sky and salt the entire state of Nebraska. Thanks for the cancer Biden.
