So...... when tightening down the barrel nut on my first AR build, I was using the AR-15 tool backwards with just the three "guide pins" to tighten it. It wouldn't hit the torque specs because the "pins kept rolling over the points on the nut. Finally I realized it and turned the wrench around, but I still had to file the nut down to get it to work.

Dropped my favorite Springfield stainless 1911 out of a "what I thought was snapped" horizontal shoulder holster while bending over to pick up some brass. I almost cried! Two nice, BIG dings close to the front of the slide, and one right on top of the front sight....Brother-in-law was there to point at me and laugh !

Trust me, I worked my ass off on this to try to make it go away!

I have a kimber like this one that has a mild carry melt (or whatever they call it).



But a gun isn't really yours, until it's got much more character than that.

Well it wasn't the install that did it. It was the knocking out the old one to remove the old trigger guard. It came 1/2 way out then snap. That is a cool idea though. I may have to get on eof those anyway for my next build.
