Daily Dinner thread?

Slice up the plantains, cover the bottom of the pan with olive oil, and then sautee on medium heat until brownish on both sides. if the pan gets a little dry I put some more olive oil in it during cooking.
Thanks! I couldn't tell if they were carmelized with a little butter and brown sugar or something of the like. I see them at the store all the time and never knew what to do with them. I'll pick some up to try next time!

Fixin' an American Poors' supper for tonight......

About once per year I'll buy a bag of Hurst's 15 Bean Soup dry pack and cook them after an overnight soak. 20 oz package for $3.00 anywhere (used to be a LOT cheaper, thanks Joe) and I use green onion tops (GF can't have regular onion), garlic, salt pork and in this pot I'm using some Conecuh smoked sausage I had in the frig. I may add 3 tbs of tomato paste at the end but haven't decided. Pan of corn bread and I'm eatin' a better supper than 75% of the world's population. America is where you want to be a poor.

Love that 15 bean soup mix.
Throw in a couple cans of chicken broth along with that Conecuh to cook 'em with.

Some people do put some sugar on them. In my mind, at that point, just saute bananas. I like the fact that plantains are only a little sweet and savory as well.

Lunch!

Smoked apple pie baked beans and some boneless Boston butt that I fileted out and and used some bulgolgi marinade.
