Any caliber can lose deer, I've seen them run off after being hit with a 300mag. Shot placement, and proper bullets.
Like I said I don't think the Fusion bullet opened at that range.
I hunt everything with 223s now a days ...Mostly hogs ,but deer also . Never any problems ... 75 gr bthp .. But what do I know I only shoot deer on multiple permits every year ,and 300 plus hogs a year.
The speed of a 708 at that distance....I'm sure it didn't open
I'm going to try the 75 grain Amax on a few this year.
62 gr Fusion is solid. I have also had 100% success with Barnes VOR-TX .223 55gr. TSX and Federal Premium Vital Shok .223 60gr. Nosler Partition.

Cool. I noticed PSA has Federal Fusion MSR 62gr on sale for $16.99 per box. Supposedly it's designed specifically for use in ARs. The only real difference I see is it's about 250fps slower than the standard 62gr. Would that loss in velocity be a bad thing for hunting?
