Does your club allow guests and if so, why?

I ran into one of the fellas in the neighborhood this morning that is a member of a club in Talbot County. His target buck was killed by a guest on Friday afternoon. He dropped several four letter words describing the situation, and I can completely understand why he was ticked. Back when I was in a club, we did not allow guests until after Thanksgiving, and they were only allowed to kill does. That rule was dropped, and we eventually disallowed all guests.

Are there any good reasons to allow guests other than perhaps introducing someone to hunting? Does your club allow guests and if so why?

Prior to land ownership in 2004 I was in a club in Putnam County. You could bring a guest as well after Thanksgiving. If they shot a button buck it was $100. Small Buck $200. Kids first deer anything could be harvested.

That would piss me off... But if indeed those rules had been in place prior, your buddy knew the chances...

We hunt a small family property. If you see something great, that's fantastic. If you don't see anything great, that is also fantastic. We just hunt to have fun. The only thing I don't like to see is owls. They have a bad habit of watching the black trigger finger on your glove as a small rodent.

When I belonged to hunting clubs, I’ve seen it more than once when a guest blasted a big buck a member had been feeding and filming all year. Watching adult men just throw a complete hissy fit over a deer is kind of funny and sad. The deer could be 12 miles away at any given time, so how do they claim the deer was theirs? That’s one of the reasons I’m not in hunting clubs, sometimes the drama is just too much. I need relaxation more than a deer when I go.
