i threaded the gas port to take a 10/24 screw to secure the handguard cap.

Actually the original "Dissipator" was a Bushmaster term and it was carbine gas under a rifle length handguard with a FSB at the rifle length location just like yours.


Nothing fake about it sir. Rifle length gas is actually a "fake" dissipator.
