There have been initiatives in several states to use them to track public officials including politicians and police when that happens they are usually unplugged. Some cops just can't resist using this kind of technology to spy on people for illegitimate reasons. Illegal surveillance and stalking through the use of traffic monitoring cameras.
People don't have a reasonable expectation to not be incidentally seen by other folks, including LEO, while in public.
People *do* have a reasonable expectation not to be effectively stalked by a network of cameras that canvas entire cities.
I personally stopped using any cameras that rely on a cloud provider to run (Waymo, Ring, Nest, etc) and intend to move to a self-hosted NVR using encrypted storage to replace them.
