Ignorance of the law is no excuse! I'm venting a little. My son doesn't have a carry permit, I always told him if not locked in glove box have it in view (in Ga.) this morning in Fl. on way to a job site, traffic stop and yep gun on the seat. Immediate arrest and booked for unsecured firearm, a 3rd degree felony. Spending the night in jail tonight to see the J.P. in the morning to find out the bond. Some days I wish I had been sterile.

Hate to hear that. My 19 year old wants to carry a gun in his car and I won't let him. Not a legal thing, just a maturity thing. Kids will keep you awake at night...

That's a tuff spot for sure. FL laws out of reach, so let's hope he can plea down to lessor charges and not loose his gun rights completely!

He tried, was turned down, because of a small amount weed charge 12 years ago.

In Ga. its legal to have it in sight and in Fl. its not legal if its not in glove box or in container without permit. Law says there needs to be a step to get to it to qualify.
