If I want sweets I'll buy candy but I don't want sugar in any of my food an anybody that put sugar on there grits should leave the south.

I am not a big fan of sugar in anything, but one thing I have learned is that just a pinch or two of sugar in yellow squash or black eye peas will really bring out the flavor. If you taste the sugar you used too much.

Unless you're a YANKEE one does NOT PUT SUGAR in CORNBREAD either.

Yankee here, no sugar in the cornbread or made from scratch tomato sauce. I don't even put sweetner/sugar in my iced tea.

I go with onion in the squash and salty streak-o-lean in the blackeyes. Sugar is for sweet tea.

A little sugar in spaghetti is good,I also like it in cornbread, but must have jalepenos.
