Just ran up to chestnut mountain range to shoot and there is a new gate on the road and a sign that says range closed until further notice!

Got a DNR email yesterday, this was mentioned. Something about all DNR ranges on Federal land are closed.

Is the government run by idiots?
They want people to stay away from each other, and then they ban you from going hiking in the woods, using nature trails, going camping with your family, riding on the silver comet bicycle trail, fishing from your bass boat in the lake half a mile from the nearest shoreline, or doing all these other activities were people are spaced far apart from each other.

WRD continues to provide access to dispersed recreation, such as hunting and fishing, on wildlife management areas and public fishing areas.Education centers and outdoor access to all properties are currently still open to the public; however, WRD advises that everyone follow CDC guidelines before visiting its properties and remain home when sick, with a fever, or following exposure to someone who is sick.

Indoor programs and group events over ten participants will be cancelled or rescheduled. WRD scheduled outdoor events of 50 attendees or less will remain in place at this time provided attendees maintain the 6-foot dispersal recommendation.

Guests with reservations for events, lodging, and camping may contact WRD for rescheduling or refund options. Please visit https://georgiawildlife.com/closures for updates on agency event cancellations due to COVID-19.

SAPELO FERRY: Due to the need to maintain social distancing on the Sapelo Island ferry, guests will be prioritized as follows and permitted on board as space permits up to 50 passengers:

  • First on board: Sapelo Island residents and landowners
  • Second on board: Contractors
  • Third on board: Guests of island residents and landowners
All guests must have a Sapelo Island resident, landowner, or business host and will be allowed to board given the amount of space left on the ferry. Guests without hosts are not permitted. All passengers will be expected to maintain the 6-foot dispersal recommendation while on the ferry.

US FOREST SERVICE PROPERTIES: Some boat ramps and shooting ranges on US Forest Service property are closed. For info on these closures, click HERE.

Looks like outdoors on STATE lands is still OK

I agree with that, just something to point out that I've seen.... Occasionally, here in Blairsville, there will be so many cars parked at the top of Blood Mountain or at other forest service spots to where cars are lined up and down the road parked illegally over flowing from the designated parking areas. People from the city flock up here when it's pretty and it can get over crowded in certain national forest places very quick.
