Huh, just saw an ad on Facebook that they are $489 :confused2:

Y'all went from $399 to $419 to $489. I'm not trying to be the price police, I know that you're trying to run a business, but I'm not gonna lie, it disappoints me that you're cashing in on the great Glock panic.

Pump your brakes, hot rod. You are seeing 10% of the picture.

We bought a bunch of Glocks at a great deal, and sold them at $399. We sold out.

We tried to do the same deal again, but our distributor had gone up on THEIR price. We bought more, but were only able to sell them for $419. We sold out.

We recently bought the last ones we could find, but once again, wholesale prices had gone up. Our markup percentage has remained the same, but the prices we are paying for Glock has been rising.

I’ve been out of the shop for nearly a week, hunting in Montana. When I quoted $499, I was going off memory. So, I may have been off by $10. It’s also possible that while I was gone, the shop got another shipment of Glocks in, and they brought the price down $10.

We ain’t cashin’ in on ****. We are buying Glocks at the best prices that we can, marking them up our standard amount, and trying to get our customers the best deal we can.

As a consumer, here’s what I know:

$489 > $399 or $419

That’s all I’m saying. You can take offense if you want.

No screamin’ eagle ****?! The higher number is MORE THAN the smaller numbers!? Who’d a-thunk it!?

You accused us of price gouging due to the Glock panic. I explained that we are not, and you do not know what you are talking about.

Over a period of time, we paid more for Gen4 G19’s. When our wholesale cost goes up, our retail price goes up the same amount. It’s simple math.

When you compared what we were charging for Glocks, each of those different prices were for a different shipment of Glocks, and we paid different prices for each shipment. It ain’t hard to understand.

Slide by the shop some day. I’ll show you the invoices for the last several shipments of Gen4 G19’s, and you will see that what we paid went up, but we are still marking them up the same percentage.

Turns out I was correct on more than one account.

When I went out of town, we were selling Gen4 G19’s for $499.99, just like I stated.

Since I’ve been out of town, we dropped the price to $489.99. Either it’s a $10 off sale, or we got another shipment of Glocks in at a slightly lesser cost than the previous shipment.

That fact remains the firearm cost more than previously? Correct?

Be it TruPrep, the distributor, or the damn tooth fairy, the price has gone up.

That’s it. That’s the bottom line.

I get it, supply/demand, the item is going away.

Someone, somewhere, is charging more for the same item than it previously cost before the discontinuation was announced.

I’ve made my point, I’ve said my peace. I wish both you and TruPrep well. I have no doubt the Glock’s in question will sell out quickly.

Have a blessed day.

Yeah, TOTALLY not taking advantage of the great Glock shortage.

You forgot to include the top part of the screenshot.

You’re back tracking. My issue is your statement “I'm not trying to be the price police, I know that you're trying to run a business, but I'm not gonna lie, it disappoints me that you're cashing in on the great Glock panic.”

You are directly stating that TruPrep is gouging prices by marking Glocks up above our usual markup, in order to capitalize on the current Glock buying frenzy.

This is an outright lie.

I’m pissed that you stated that WE are the ones that drove the price up. You are making our shop look unscrupulous and greedy. It’s slander, and since we have the paperwork to prove our pricing structure, it is actually libelous.

Now you are saying that “someone, somewhere” is charging more. Have you dropped your line that TruPrep is gouging our customers, or is it still us?

If someone upstream from TruPrep, whether it be Glock, the wholesalers, or both, is charging more for Glocks, then why are you blaming TruPrep for charging more? We are not the reason, and are still making the same percentage we always have.

I didn’t forget it. I didn’t include because it was not germane to the discussion at hand. You lied when you stated that TruPrep is gouging our customers. Now you are grasping at straws once the obviousness of the situation was presented in its entirety. You’re looking for anything, but you’ve got nothing.

The parts you highlighted above are advertising, and have nothing to do with the pricing argument that you have now abandoned, since you’ve realized you were wrong.

The parts you highlighted are TRUTH. Before I left for Montana, I cast about all of our distributors looking for “standard” model Glocks, other than the 43/43X/48 (what are commonly referred to as “slim frames”). I could not find any Gen4 or Gen5 non-slim frame Glocks at any of our distributors, that weren’t special editions/weird Cerakote jobs/very non-standard models. Basically, crap no one wants, which is why they still have them. Nothing in basic, standard black, or the FDE 19X models.

We are now worried that we won’t be able to get any more Gen4 or Gen5 Glocks. This means that if someone wants to buy a Gen4 Glock from TruPrep, they better get ‘em while they can, just like the ad says.

This is not cashing in on public panic. This is us informing our customers that supplies are finite and extremely limited. That is exactly how a business should operate.
