Good carry insurance

That is a terrible and sorely unjustified situation, probably in one of those very Liberal Fascist court system, but its not against the board that every self defense shooting is going to put a defendant away in this way. There are plenty of cases where people defended themselves and were exonerated.

I think having anyone on your side, to help you with the language, the court procedures, and cost is a plus. The cost alone average over $50k in defense of your case.

US Law Shield sounds very legit to me. I think thier insurance is a matter verbal symantecs, these companies offering coverage is to be there for you when the SHTF after you defended yourself.

It can't hurt!!

US Law Shield has a class at local gun stores/gun ranges every so often if you check around

Yes, they did at the gun club near me, a month after I joined the other one. I switched, they had a better product in my opinion.

What plans have you considered?
What kind of coverage limits and types of coverage are good for you? What's your minimum coverage?
I'd like to see $100,000 in legal defense (criminal or civil, or combined) that covers NOT just attorney fees, but also all the reasonably necessary costs of litigation, including having investigators build the file and having experts on use of force or crime scene forensic experts go over the evidence.
I'd like some money to be available for bail bonds, too. Not just the 12% necessary to hire a bail bondsman, but ideally it would be $50,000 full cash bond directly from the plan itself, thus streamlining the process and getting you out of jail quicker. (Assuming you haven't killed anybody. If you're charged with murder you'll probably have to wait a week for a full bond hearing at which you'd better be represented by an attorney).

I went with US Law Shield. They are not an insurance company (good thing), they are more like a defense club or network. Insurance companies only worry about NOT paying a claim. With USLS, you have unlimited coverage for any lawful use of any lawful weapon. Not this "pay us $10/month and we'll cover you up to $250k. Or pay us $30/month and we'll cover you up to $1M" B.S. USLS has UNLIMITED coverage on BOTH criminal and civil suits. I don't think any of the others hang with you during a civil proceeding. It cost me $130 for 14 months (pay for all 12 months up front, get two months free deal) plus a one time $20 enrollment fee. I spent more than that the last time I bought ammo. Plus, when you make that 3 A.M. phone call an attorney assigned to your area answers the phone. Not some call center in Jakarta.

They are having a free seminar at A.O. this weekend, I think, during Sig Days. The USLS website is full of good defensive tips, such as, remove all stickers from your vehicle that relate to firearms or their use and right to carry. Prosecutors love to take pics of your vehicle and deem you as a blood thirsty redneck. No need to advertise it, even if you is one. Bumper stickers also tell criminals there's a gun in your car. You're better off putting a bicycle and rainbow sticker on your back window.

Same here, I tend to over think these things but tonight I've compared it enough to finally decide between the last two. The NRA reimburses you but only for 80%, doesn't provide bail but allows your spouse on your policy. USCCA responds with bail and provides 100% immediately but my wife has to have her own policy. Her policy would be 50% of the cost of mine. The NRA only covers gun related cases where the USCCA covers any weapon. Negligent discharge cases (for example) would probably cost you your GWL so the NRA wouldn't cover it but the USCCA would still remain with or without a carry license. I think it's obvious which way I'm leaning so tell me where I'm going wrong. I've worked to long and hard for a lawsuit to destroy the rest of my life.

Thanks for the information you provided. Right now, I'm reviewing the USCCA provisions and the NRA Carry Guard Insurance. Since you wrote this post in June of '17, do you have anything else you can share?

Very helpful post. I'm in the process of doing some research on who to go with. US Law Shield sounds very promising.

I've got no skin in this game yet since I have not bought a membership in any of these, but what is described above is what Armed Citizen Legal Defense Fund covers except for the 50K bail - they only cover up to 25K. They do this all for 1st year $135.00 ($95.00 renewal fee) plus my spouse can be added for $60.00 a year, and is valid in any state I travel to.

A big plus (for me) are the people involved with this legal defense fund like - Marty Hayes, Massad Ayoob, Tom Givens and John Farnam. https://armedcitizensnetwork.org/learn/support-plan-comparison
