Sorry to hear your new purchase has been a pain instead of fun.
Often hear suggestion to not buy a new model of anything
when they first come out. Give manufacturer time to find
and fix the glitches. Especially guns, vehicles, & airplanes.
Some 22lr semi-autos are 'finicky' but yours sounds defective.
Least finicky seems to be the Ruger Mk pistol. Now that the
MK IV has resolved the difficult take down of previous Marks
that choice should be a win/win.
S&W Victory seems to have good reputation so far and
apparently responsible for Ruger fixing their Mk series.
Another plus is both cost less than Glock 44.
Same thing true of the M&P 22 and SR22 if poly frame
is/was a deciding factor.
