Great C-5 Story with pics

when I worked at Lockheed, the C5 fuel tanks were a great place to hide and take a nap on company time. I remember going in one day and there were 6 people in there already asleep.

Yep, they had to build a 5 story building just to install the tail on the C-5. They called it the 'tail' building. Then they built a new C-5 building for maintenance and all the roof structure was above the roof so they could get the C-5 in, but not sure they could get the tail in. But I guess they could - can't remember.
Robins built hanger "extensions" to cover the tail during work. They are taller than the hangers, and on wheels to move between hangers and move in place after the plane's in place.

They suck too! Opens with a UKe and has to be certified, to put power on them, just more crap

Travis had a hanger you could put two inside nose to nose in the 80s

That building is called "The CAT House", it's where the C-5 went to get a little tail.
The C-5 rolled out of the main production plant (the B-1 building) with no tail.
The B-1 building is 4.5 million sq ft under one roof.
