gun pulled on me today- need help

"A person may NOT carry a HANDGUN openly in Georgia WITHOUT having a valid gwcl"
He can have it in his car, and take it out if he thinks he might need it. Not some imaginary line getting out of the car where he suddenly becomes illegal, if all he steps out of the car. The law allowing carry in a vehicle would be pretty useless if you cant get out of the car if you need it.
Hell by law the officer cannot even request the permit, at the mere presence of a weapon. OP states the other party simply stood by his car with a gun after retrieving it from the car while others approached the OP. That is not against the law, and all the freedoms we have worked so hard to protect would be mute, if just having a gun in a confrontation was illegal.

"Georgia is not a traditional open carry state. However, open carry IS legal WITH a Georgia permit."

HB 60 does provide some protections preventing police from requiring to see a permit unless an actual crime could be articulated. It's the same reason they did not ask to see your permit: by law, they can't ask to see it just for the hell of it. They shouldn't anyway, and it's good to see them actually following the law. To be honest, you shouldn't have even offered to show it. That's not your responsibility.

Obviously you did not feel your life threatened, or you would have taken action. Thus the man's weapon, even in the process of "charging it", was just an inanimate object causing no harm or threat to you or your family. I'm a bit disappointed that you were happy the police showed up shortly after: what happens if they don't? Can't always depend on the government to solve your social problems for you. Would you have been prepared to defend yourself and your family?

The Second Amendment does not state that "law abiding people" have the right to keep and bear arms. It states the people, as in all people, even those you may disagree with because of personal feelings. He felt he had a legitimate reason to pull his weapon, police did not feel compelled enough to charge him with anything, it is what it is and you should just let it go. As far as I see it, the justice system didn't fail. Petty incident resulted in no loss of life or even injuries, no need to waste taxpayer dollars pursuing the case further from a criminal standpoint. Take it to Civil Court if you feel so wronged: that's why it exists. Police handled it appropriately: it's not their job to involve themselves in civil disputes.

What would have happened if OP pulls his pistol and a gun fight ensues on he premise that he feared for his life....
Well if my aunt had balls she be my uncle then wouldn't she?

If ifs and buts were candies and nuts we'd all have a wonderful Christmas.
