Man I love ODT!!!!

Reading through some of the threads on here got me wondering...

Have any of you guys that carry regularly ever actually used your weapon to stop/deter a crime in progress?

Whether you fired it or not, have you ever directed it or pulled it in order to halt a criminal?

How 'bout home defense? Have you ever used a weapon to stop an intrusion or protect your property?

POST UP!!! I want to hear your stories!!!

had some folks rob the neighbors down the road from us back in jeff davis at knife point...me and my brothers armed with shotguns found them hunkered down in our little patch of woods near the highway i guess waiting for their getaway ride lol we held them there until the police showed up ... wasnt carrying but i know our neighbors were glad that we practice our right to own firearms ...they got their stuff back ( folks rushed them as they were bringing home that weeks take from the restaurant they own) and we got a cool story lol

I was at work, I help a customer and was in my car doing paperwork. A homeless person came up to my window and demanded that I open my door. He then showed me a box cutter and started to punch and hit my window trying to break it. Once I put the laser that is connected my LCP on him .... he took off. I then called the police and they said it would be 45 minutes before they could get there. So, yes... it saved me. Had I not had a gun the odds are he would have broke my window then came at me with the box cutter.

I am glad to say I have never had to use mine in a defensive fashion (knock on wood). I look at it like a fire extinguisher. I hope I never need it but I'm glad to have it if I do!

I started to carry daily 12+ years ago when we had a rash of muggings in the parking lot of the architecture firm I worked for at the time. The perp(s) would wait until almost everyone was gone, and preyed on the unfortunate ones to be the last ones to leave. One of our engineers hand his hand slashed defending himself...but the prep did not get his wallet. Within days the firm went from having a select few who carried to having a lot of people who packed.

I have never had to use or even pull my carry weapon from its holster. But as said before...it is like a fire extinguisher - always good to have just in case you have to use it. I hope I never have to use it...but I pity the person who drives me to that point - I practice almost every weekend with my revolvers. Mostly likely...they will not live to tell their side of the story.

Yes my weapon has had to leave the holster "for real" on several occasions. Most notable was when some a$$hole tried to pull out in front of me and cause an accident (and I know he was trying to cause an accident) and I had to throw my truck into a ditch to avoid hitting him. I managed to bounce back onto the road so I just gave him the one finger salute and kept driving. Two miles down the road Im stopped at a redlight with cars in front of me and behind me and this guy pulls onto the grass and jumps out of his car screaming and cursing at me. He comes up to my truck threatening me and he tries to open my door so I draw down on him and when he sees the gun he runs away. Im pretty shaken but I try to calm down and just continue driving to work.

Next thing I know I pull into the parking lot of my work and 4 police cars come flying up behind me. The officers all get out with their guns drawn on me and make me get out of my truck and lay face first on the pavement. They snatch my .45 out of my holster and handcuff me. To make it even better my boss is in the parking lot drinking a cup of coffee and watching the whole thing with a stunned look on his face. As it turns out the a$$hole called the police and said I had a gun and was trying to kill him. He followed me to my work and watched as I was dragged from my truck like an episode of COPS. I tell the police what happened, and the a$$hole was dumb enough to tell them the same thing. (I actually heard him say "yeah I went to go kick his ass and he pulled a gun on me!") So the police immediately took the cuffs off, apologized to me for having to tackle me and gave me my pistol back. Then one of the officers pulled me aside and told me that he would have done the same thing if he were me and next time I should just shoot the guy. lol But....

IT STILL WASNT OVER! The a$$hole then comes into my work and starts screaming at the 2 girls working at the front of the shop and demands to see the owner. (should have mentioned earlier, I worked at a gun store at the time) He then tells my boss that the only reason the police let me go was because he was black and I was white and he was going to get the NAACP involved and sue me and sue the shop and would not leave. We finally had to call the police back out a second time and have him escorted off the premesis.

So yeah, it was a rough morning that day...

Back in my younger days...I used to get the "road rage". Well to make a long story short, I got stuck at a light and the biggest, meanest, nastiest, pissoffiest, giant got out of the car in front of me and asked me why I was rushing his mother he was riding with and asked me to get out of the car. I humbled up real quick, the light turned green, and his mother asked him to "forget it" so he got back in the car. Lesson learned but not the hard way. I sometimes think to myself what if-? I'm kinda glad I didn't carry back then, what would I have done against a monster like that with no sweet old lady to call him off? I would have deserved the beating but might have killed someone out of fear? I forgot to mention that I had my wife and kid with me, yeah, but like I said, young and dumb. MUCH wiser in my old age. :pray2:
