HB859: "Campus Carry" Bill Introduced by Rep Jasperse

"Once the three stages of the legislative process have concluded, a new stage—consideration by the governor—begins. During a session, the governor can request that a particular bill be sent for signature or veto. But generally most bills are only sent to the governor following the end of the legislative session. The governor then has forty days to decide whether to sign the bill into law, veto the bill (in which event it is returned to the house where it was introduced for veto override consideration), or do nothing (which allows the bill to become law automatically at the end of the forty-day period)." http://www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/articles/government-politics/legislative-process-overview

So maximum 40 days to law. Hopefully he signs it ASAP.

Effective immediately, I think...
The things I've read says July 1 assuming he doesn't veto it.

Gotta give everyone plenty of time to shop so they will be heeled and ready to blaze away at same time just like the donut shop scene from Boogie Nights. Remember that's what happened when "Guns Everywhere" law went into effect. Maybe the profs can get bulletproof desks from the same place the MARTA bus drivers got their bulletproof seatbacks.
