The author of 2014 legislation that expanded gun rights in Georgia is back this year with another effort to legalize firearms on college campuses.

Rep. Rick Jasperse, R-Jasper, and Rep. Mandi Ballinger, R-Canton, have filed House Bill 859, which allows anyone with a weapons license to carry a gun anywhere on a public college or university campus, except for dormitories, Greek housing or at athletic events.

“Our position on it is pretty clear,” Jasperse told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an interview. “We are restoring rights to Georgians."

Good time to call and let your House Rep know you support Rep Jasperse's bill.

If you see their name here tell them thank you:

Weapons permit holders have a nation average weapon's permit revocation rate of less than 1%.

The crime rates for weapon permit holders are lower than the rest of the population and surprisingly lower than vetted train LEO-both are exceptionally low though.

What do over 15,000 verified active and retired LEO say about arming citizens?

A majority (almost 90 percent) of officers believe that casualties would be decreased if armed citizens were present at the onset of an active-shooter incident.

More than 80 percent support arming school teachers and administrators and carry one.
