The pheasant engraving looks pretty clean and sharp. Much sharper than the other stuff on the gun, IMO.As I keep thinking about it, the engraving on the receiver and the cut checkering on the stocks could have been done later. In any case, those two things will certainly detract from "collector value."
It's an enigma to me. I've seen that engraving on Model 11s, but not on a contract gun. As it stands I'd not value it (if pressed to do so) more than $350.The pheasant engraving looks pretty clean and sharp. Much sharper than the other stuff on the gun, IMO.
Stock should not be checkered. Military issued will have inspector's mark if not sanded off. Some of the early did have the factory engraving if I'm not mistaken. It think it should have the inspection stamps on the stock though, and not sure if the stock would have checkering.
You do not have a riot special if the barrel is 28".I have one with 28 in barrel and I would not consider selling it for less than $500. I have seen them from $350 to $1500 so "ever what someone is willing to give".
Replaced the riot barrel with the 28" a couple of years ago.You do not have a riot special if the barrel is 28".
