It would probably cost a little more but maybe a short cruise? It's a decent drive to Port Canaveral but once you get there you can leave the driving to the captain, the mrs doesn't have to cook, and the kids can run around the ship to their hearts content.

Pigeon Forge gets bigger every year.

All of the other mentioned areas will be tired after a single day. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg has enough attractions to last weeks. Where else can you see a life sized King Kong? or Titanic?

We love cruises, but the kids don't have passports yet and we wouldn't be able to get them in time most likely.

We did a big Disney trip already this year so we're trying to keep the cost reasonable. Flights add a pretty big additional cost.

figure up how much you would spend on a vacation, be real about it. every thing. meals ,gas, motel, snacks,Ect.. then take day trips to different area museums , parks Ect.. then go by the local mall, walmart ,what ever,on the way back home and let the kids pick out something to buy, you and your wife also buy your selves something .
the wife and i found out a long time ago that after you get back from a vacation you got nothing but a memory and credit card bills. you'll be surprised at just how much money you throw away on a vacation trip.
