with 1911's i think aftermarket parts can improve it if they are hand fit by a qualified gunsmith, hell you can replace and fit just about everything but the frame with ultra nice parts and still "have the same gun", but your still going to get pennies on the dollar for the upgrades.

Other than hand fit gunsmith parts it's just window dressing and you wont get any of the investment back
