Hunting with a 5.56 rifle

The only law regarding a .223/5.56 is that you can not use FMJ bullets. They have to be expanding or soft nose bullets. It has nothing to do with shot placement, humanely killing or any other crap.....it is about bullet....soft point ok....full metal jacket(military type ammo) not ok.

.22 center fire ammo is legal for big game in GA. when used with expanding bullet

back in the '60s the Hunting Regs. had a list of ammo not legal for big game; what I remember were the .257 Roberts and the .30 Carbine were on that list

if you got caught using .22 center fire back then you got crucified

Dang, I killed one of my biggest bucks two years ago with a 1972 Ruger .257 Roberts. Ran about 60 yds, mostly cause it was a down hill slope.

.223 and 5.56 are perfectly adequate if you can shoot worth a ****.

Depending on your age, you are going to be required to take the hunter safety course. Read up on those regulations! And have fun!

PS - some of the best shots are the ones you DON'T take. Don't rush the shot.
