I guess Glock did something right...

Well I'm partial to my 3rd gen 23 but that's the same dimension wise as the 19.... I love the way it feels, it fits me perfectly.

I was a full blooded Glock hater. When my buddy got his Glock I talked so much crap about my M&P9 being better. Shot his glock, sold my M&P and got one!

I, too, was a Glock hater. I thought they had awkward grip angles, looked like crap, and the trigger was rough.

It all changed when I went shooting with a bunch of friends. My guns wouldn't shoot steel cased Russian ammo but my friends Glock ate it up.

I figured if a gun will properly cycle crappy ammunition, that would mean expensive HP's shouldn't be an issue. That's something I'm willing to put my life behind.

I carry a 32, shoot a 19. I love the ergonomics. Slide finish has been the most resilient finish I've ever had on any gun.

I guess Glock did everything right by making the G19. I couldn't help but notice how many people on here are wanting to trade this or that for a G19. I have one and I love it, wouldn't trade it for anything!

I was just wanting to get everyone's opinion, what is it about the 19 that makes it so popular?

Fixed.

I'be been shooting & carrying the G-19/23 series now for over 20 years.
Back then I literally made my own comparison chart & spent hours considering which pistol to select for self-defense.
I evaluated:

Reliability
Weight
Cost
Ammo capacity
Size
Hand-fit
Feed reliability
Caliber
Accuracy
Magazine compatibility w/ other models of same caliber
Finish durability
Overall durability
Trigger consistency
Ease of repair/modification
Ease of assembly/disassembly
Slide height for fast follow-up shots

For my needs, the Glock 19/23 was the best overall compromise.
What helped seal the deal was that even back then some highly respected shooters & gun writers had switched to it from legendary platforms like the 1911, S&W 686, Browning Hi-Power,, etc.
I use the G-19/23. multiple times each month teaching classes. I would comfortably say that the G-19 is probably the top pistol used by Firearms Instructors all over the world, and it is chosen for a reason.
When people are paying their hard-earned money to train with you they want you to be focused on them , not your fancy "racegun" that keeps "choking & puking"
When something better (for me) comes along & proves itself I'll change to it.
Until then, I take comfort knowing that the gun that never leaves my side will do it's part if I can do mine.

i don't have aG19 but I love my glocks. I have a gen 1 G17, and a G35 I just traded a Springfield arms 1911 for. Always wanted a G19 to carry. I've had the G17 for 15yrs it has never failed. Everyone should have a Glock
