I picked up a Dead Wolf on I-20... then THIS happened.

What could have caused the fire?

Sorry to hear. Isn't that electric?

It WAS :)... mostly electric.
It had a small engine to generate electricity (only), if you wanted to stop every 60 miles to get gas you could drive it to California. But then of course you would be in California and you would need to come home. :pound:Nice concept BMW came up with for those folks my age that don't want to live on the edge and drive 98 miles on a 100 mile range electric car...

Have you contacted the NTSB or the Ga Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner ?

A relatively new vehicle, recently serviced, should not self combust.

And, glad you and your family did not get hurt.

Glad your okay. So what alerted you there was an issue with the car? Smoke, fire or?

A VERY NICE citizen in a silver Chevrolet!!!... He may have saved my life.
I thought he was "road raging" me, he saw the smoke (I guess) and stayed beside me A LONG time trying to get me to pull over.
I said to myself "Self we are not getting into a gunfight because some jackleg doesn't think me going 72 (YES, in the slow lane :)) is fast enough. Don't make eye contact with him." :pound:
He got in front of me, slowed down with his flashers on, I passed him...
He flashed his lights at me once he was behind me, waving his arms...
Then pulled up beside me and pointed to the rear and said (reading his lips I never rolled down my window) "Something is wrong with your car"
I never saw or smelt smoke, I thought maybe my tire was low or something... this dude sure is excited about a low tire, maybe he sells tires. :pound:
Thank You JESUS, and good citizen on I-20 yesterday.:thumb:

hmmmmmm NTSB? I didn't think about that. I really think it was a mechanic error, not the car.
State Farm is all over it, probably getting the car right now. They don't want to write me a check for $25,000 I'm sure.

Dude, I know you have seen it (houses if not cars) hundreds of times, but flames on hot motor oil moves FAST!!!
I moved some of my stuff about 30 feet away and went to call 911 on the phone I was on Waze with (for GPS) & BOTH my phones were still in their cradles in the car. (STUPID {except for teens:eek2:} HANDS FREE LAW). Ran back got both of them & their chargers, a bag of 200 9mm ammo/bullets/rounds/projectiles I had in the door pocket, that could have been a party. The flames moved probably 6 feet up the side of the car, in that one trip away from it... CRAZY!!!

Yeah, full coverage $1,000 deductible (never had an accident (car, 1 motorcycle accident Mr. Goodbar Mr. Goodbar 20 yrs. ago so we max out the duductible) Rental car for $5 a day... all is good in the senior citizen hood. :)

I HATE to lose my patriotic theme, but I will probably start out with a black ( Mr. Goodbar Mr. Goodbar x2 :boink:) car this time... since that white car wanted to be black... and got there pretty darn quick... :pound:

My preacher gives me a hard time for not buying American cars, so I tell him I am more American than him with my patriotic "stable" Red, White (yesterday), and Blue & all :usa2: :)

It’s cause your car was white and racist, it felt guilty. Glad your insurance coverage is good (I learned the hard way about that) hopefully the insurance company takes good care of you.
