Is Girsan any good?

I believe Girsan is a division of EAA. The same company that makes the Tangfolio Witness 2011 and several other models. Those a very nice guns and a lot are sold.

I have never owned one but I have handled and looked at one. It was a nice gun but I believe you could do better with the Tisas line up. They have forged frame, slide and barrel and are a very popular budget 1911 that seem to be getting a lot of attention these days. I have looked at those very closely and the right models are very nice and very well crafted with close attention to fit and finish. They start in the upper 300 range all the way up to 700 plus. So you can get as nice as a firearm as your budget will allow. I am not saying that the Girsan is a dud but when buying a 1911 buy the best one you can afford at the time. I highly recommend searching out a place that has both under the counter for you to look over and make your own mind on which one will suit your want and needs. Myself I would do the Tisas. I have owned and modified one and it turned out to be a decent gun. It was a entry level gun I upgraded to a much nicer firearm than when I acquired it.

If you just want something to plink with at the range and the Girsan might fit the bill. However, if you are looking for something a little more than just a plinker then look at the Tisas selection and look around the 450 to 600 mark. You can get a really good Tisas for that kind of coin.

For there price point they are good guns, but remember there is a reason they are cheaper then th3 gun they are copying.

The metallurgy is considered to be pretty good, and both the Hi Power and 92F clones I have shot were reasonably tight lockup, OK triggers and a good finish.

I'm told that they (at least those two models) will take standard 3rd party parts. They certainly both accepted Mec-Gar mags with no problems.

Girsan seem to be one of the better Turkish clone makers.

Their 1911s are hit or miss, the hi power clones are ok, but somehow their beretta and browning .380 copies are really good though. I highly recommend.
you might be able to find them cheaper around, I got mine for $320 out the door.

My original Girsan 1911 snapped a firing pin and broke the fp cover after having it a week, but that was one of the first ones imported to the states.

I have their HiPower close and it's excellent, and even that old 1911 works just fine once I replaced a few of the garbage parts.

Kind of like Canick. Kind of trash when they forst started, but a good quality manufacturer these days.
