I had an older beat up 35. It was the best shooting lever I ever put in my hands, as I remember @3/4" group at 100yds. The cartridge didn't perform as well as I needed in the woods. I hated to sell that gun as it was a keeper of a life time because of it's accuracy. I sold it to a friend of mine on a deal. He is a big fan of the 35. I told him not to ever sell that one. After a range session he agreed. So after that I started using a 375H&H for a brush gun. Hits the mark even through trees, instant blood trail and doesn't tear up the meat.

I think you are the first person in history to say the 35rem doesn’t perform well

Proofs in the pudding. I was over looking a creek bottom up in a tree when 3 deer came by. I emptied that 35 at about a 40yd range, didn't hit one deer. Started to reload and another showed up, I drew my side arm 44mag at same range and blew the heart out of a doe with one shot. I did kill one deer with that 35 at 225yds, 10" hold over zeroed at 4" high at 100yds, one shot on a open field. Had to track that deer for hours to find it. I've had much better luck with a 308. The 35 was a 200gr bullet, I moved to a 375H&H 270gr bullet with my hand load. I can hunt in brush so think that you can't see the deer until you use optics. I hit my mark every time, instant blood trail and no meat loss. I've even shot through a small tree to get my deer. I know the 35 is legendary and I've known a lot of people in my life swear by them. It just didn't do what I needed/wanted.....
