My lightest setup is a gun I built using Aero receivers, Ballistic Advantage 16" midlength gas standard barrel, and Daniel Defense 9" 7.62 Lite rail. I was really surprised how light the gun turned out, almost as light as my 300 Blackout rifles.
None of the AR10 platforms are what I would call light. However, my Adams Arms is lighter than my DPMS due to it being a short frame and having a lighter BCG. LR308's have a very beefy BCG in them.
Some of the magic is in balance as well. Ive found rifle fixed stocks make the gun feel heavier for me as I feel over extended free handing it. Carbine stocks keep the center of gravity closer to the body (for me, YMMV)
I would check out the DPMS G2 series. They have reduced the weight in them to be more like an AR-15. I bought a DPMS G2 Recon and it is stupid accurate and I believe they came out with five new models in the G2 series, but don't quote me on that. Seriously check em out you'd be surprised at what they did with them.
I like the Luth AR carbine stock... I have that on my Stealth and my MDT chassis... I also have the luth AR riffle stock on my 20" AR...
I used a 6.8 for a while and loved it... just got hooked on 308...
